2006 Elections: Arizona and California Candidates January 23, 2006 01:11PM
2006 Senate Races: Arizona
John Kyl (the Incumbent) has opened up large early lead over democrat candidate Jim Pederson according to the non-partisan Behavior Research Center of Phoenix. The early poll shows Kyl winning by a 55%-26% margin. It is early January and Jim Pederson is not well-known. When TV ads come out, the race will tighten up, according to Paul Eckstien (County Democratic Party Chairman).

Jim Pederson (http://www.pederson2006.com/) is the former Chairman of the Arizona Demacratic Party while Kyl (http://kyl.senate.gov/) is seeking a third term as Senator from Arizona.

Dianne Feinstein (http://feinstein.senate.gov)(Incumbent) will be 73 on election day, but will be seeking another term as Senator from California. The Republican Party has not officially announced a candidate as of today (Jan 23) but there have been rumblings that Condileeza Rice may run for Feinstein's seat.

Todd Chretien (http://www.todd4senate.org/) has announced his candidacy for the Green Party. Cretien is running on a platform of peace, calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Cretien is also calling for Feinstein to fillibuster the Samuel Alito nomination.
